Mozart Celebration – Celebrating Mozart’s 250th anniversary, the New Chamber Ballet will present a program of three ballets by artistic director Miro Magloire which will pay tribute to the many facets of Mozart’s genius: his playfulness, his perfect sense of form and the moving contrast between joy and melancholy in his music. In Magloire’s words, “Mozart loved to dance, so what better way to honor him than an evening full of dances to his music?”
The first ballet on the program, Life, is set to the Violin Sonata K.306 and was given its world premiere last fall. The three solo parts, which symbolize different parts of life, will be danced by Elizabeth Brown, Christin Hanna and Denise Small. The second ballet, a world premiere set to the Piano Sonata K.311, is a Pas de Trois that will be performed by Elizabeth Brown, Christin Hanna and Damien Johnson. The last ballet, Round, is a rousing, playful finale set to the Violin Sonata K.377. It was given its world premiere in February and will be performed by Elizabeth Brown, Damien Johnson and Denise Small.
Live Music – The music will be performed live by the New Chamber Ballet’s musicians, violinist Erik Carlson and pianist Melody Fader.
This performance is made possible in part through the sponsorship of The Field.
